This Friday, the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, met with a delegation from the Chinese government led by Wang Dongming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, as well as with a high-level delegation from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

This first meeting took place in the context of Maduro’s inauguration, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations between the two countries.

The meeting, attended by Foreign Minister Ivan Gil and Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, highlighted the objective of strengthening ties between Venezuela and China to build a more promising future.

This meeting not only symbolizes the commitment of both governments to deepen their cooperation but also strengthens the friendship forged over five decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974.

The alliance was further consolidated in 1999 with the accession to power of Hugo Chávez and has continued to evolve under the Maduro administration.

In addition, Maduro’s meeting with representatives of OPEC and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum highlights Venezuela’s interest in strengthening its position on the global energy market.
